“I have always wanted to capture the magnetism that you feel in the presence of a sensuous woman. To pay tribute to this mysterious allure, I was inspired to create a trilogy of scents.” – Giorgio Armani
French in origin, ONDE translates to wave. According to the Company, “The Giorgio Armani Onde collection is an ode to the music created by the vibration of an ancient gong. It is a sound that resonates within a woman’s body and mind, a prelude to senses.” Armani’s new trilogy of “Neo-Oriental” fragrances is a journey to three distinct and ancient Occidental cultures whose legendary women inspire artists, architects, writers, musicians and perfumers to capture their elusive beauty.
Onde extase is a woody floral that was inspired by the “the land of the Rising Sun”; a scented tribute to the artistry and beauty of the Geisha, which translated means ‘artist’. Performer, companion, entertainer, the famous teahouses of Kyoto are intrinsic to Japanese culture and fascinate Westerners. The multi faceted talents of the Geisha are captured in Onde extase. Mimosa flowers intertwine with narcisse absolue and jasmin. Cedar, sesame and musk create an intricate obi enveloping the scent.

Onde mystère was inspired by the ‘The Harem’ and its culture of multiple wives. French and British art and written texts (poetry, literature, travel accounts, art criticism) – known as the Orientalistes (1800-1875) are the most famous portrayals of the mysteries of the harem; earthly recreations of the ‘heaven’ promised to the devout followers of Islam after their mortal lives are over. Onde mystère is an opulent musky Morrocan rose fragrance with notes of amber and spices. It’s a surprisingly light and radiant with gourmand nuances; eminently wearable, like a scented veil that teases the senses without overwhelming them with too much incense and heavy spices.
Onde vertige is a passage to India. This fragrance immediately evokes the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma, (1848-1904) the legendary artist of Kerala, India who is most admired for his portrayals of sari clad women. Onde vertige is redolent of frangipani and jasmine. Notes of anise and patchouli play off the brightness, as if a velvet drape enfolds the floral heart.
